Donated Christmas trees are getting a second life at Surfside Beach, where local volunteers use them to help rebuild the dunes that protect residents during hurricanes.

A community council in Moray has asked local people to donate their Christmas trees to help with the expansion of a sand dune restoration project. Lossiemouth Community Council uses the trees to shore up sand dunes by placing them in a trench in the town's East Beach.
