Artemis II is NASA’s first crewed mission in the Artemis program, sending four astronauts on a roughly 10-day journey around the Moon and back to test the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft’s life support, navigation, and other systems in deep space before future lunar landings. The crew will not land but will perform manual flight tests in Earth orbit before flying beyond the Moon, paving the way for the first woman and next man to land on the lunar surface on a later mission
